Sugar Wearing a Squared Dog Collar

With the color you would like in the middle of the collar, make a foundation Ch row with an odd number of Chs +5. Make sure to loop it around your pet’s neck to check the size before proceeding. Eyeballing it is asking for trouble! Don’t forget to give your pet room to breath. This is a decorative collar, just a piece of doggie or kittie jewelry, so remember – looser is better!

Row 1 – Dc in 6th Ch from hook. (Ch 1, Sk 1, Dc) Repeat from ( to ) across. Fasten off.

Row 2 – With 2nd color, with the right side facing you, join with Sl in first Dc, Ch 1, Sc in same St. (Sc in Ch 1 Sp, Sc in Dc) Repeat from ( to ) across. Ch 2, 2 Sc across the body of the last Dc, turning as you go, Ch 2.  Working in bottom loops of foundation Ch {Sc into bottom loop of Dc, Sc in bottom of Ch 1 Sp} Repeat from { to } across. In Ch 5 Sp at end of row [Sc, Ch 2, 2 Sc, Ch 2, Sc] once, turning as you go. Sl into first Sc. Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

Sew a buckle on, weave in your ends and you’re done! I used a paracord buckle for the examples, because they are easy to use and easy to attach.
