Amigurumi Snack Cake

It is common knowledge that Snack Cakes will play an important role in the survival of the human race when/if the zombie apocalypse ever actually happens. Why not prepare ahead of time and make yourself a whole Amigurumi Snack Cake army?! These guys are crocheted in the amigurumi style, never joining rows, and they look just smashing wearing nothing but a smile.

Amigurumi Snack Cake Pattern

Abbreviations

  • Ch – Chain
  • Sl – Slip Stitch
  • Sc – Single Crochet
  • ScInc – Single Crochet Increase, 2 single crochets in one stitch
  • ScDec – Single Crochet Decrease, single crochet 2 stitches together

Materials

  • D Hook
  • Worsted Weight Yarn in a shade of yellow
  • 6 mm or 7mm safety eyes
  • Sewing thread and needle
  • Stuffing

Two Amigurumi Snack Cakes in a Martini Glass

This pattern includes instructions for two different sizes of Amigurumi Snack Cakes. Use numbers enclosed in ” [ ] ” for a larger Snack Cake.

Ch 8 [10].

Row 1 – Starting in the 2nd Ch from hook, Sc in next 6 [8] Ch, 3 Sc in next Ch turning as you go. Working in bottom loops of beginning Chs, Sc in next 5 [7], ScInc. (16) [20]

Row 2 – ScInc, Sc in next 5 [7] Sc, ScInc 3 times, Sc in next 5 [7] Sc, ScInc twice. (22) [26]

Row 3 – ScInc twice, Sc in next 5 [7], ScInc twice, Sc in next 2, ScInc twice, Sc in next 5 [7], ScInc twice, Sc in next 2. (30) [34]

Row 4 – Sc, ScInc twice, Sc in next 7 [9], ScInc twice, Sc in next 4, ScInc twice, Sc in next 7 [9], ScInc twice, Sc in next 3. (38) [42]

Row 5 – In back loops only, Sc in every Sc around. (38) [42]

Row 6 – 9 – Sc in every Sc around. (38) [42]

If you have some, cut out a piece of plastic canvas the same size as the bottom of your Snack Cake and slide it into bottom of the piece. This will help ensure that bottom will stay flat when you stuff him.

Insert safety eyes between Row 8 & 9. In the example pictures, the small Snack Cake has 6mm eyes, the large one 7mm. Embroider an expression as desired.

Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing. Stuff! Using the long end, whip stitch the opening closed and finish off.

**Bonus Tip**

Make a Frosted Amigurumi Snack Cake by changing color at the beginning of Row 5. Use brown for chocolate frosting, or pink for strawberry!
