Worsted Weight, D Hook

Three Amigurumi Ice Cream Cones in a glass.

These cute little Amigurumi Ice Cream Cones are crocheted amigurumi style in one continuous round, never joining rows. Make with worsted weight yarn for a small ice cream keychain or use bulky weight to make a hand-sized stuffed cone. These work great for quick gifts. Try not to smile while you’re making them. You won’t be able to help yourself!

Caution! Don’t forget to mark your rows. Since the rows aren’t joined it is very easy to lose your place. Put a piece of scrap yarn through the last stitch of the previous row and you’ll never get lost. You’ll thank me later.

Striped Amigurumi Ice Cream Cone

Worsted Weight, D Hook

You’re almost there! It’s time to give your amigurumi ice cream cone some character. You’ll notice that there is a notch on each piece where you fastened off the yarn. Line these notches up to see how the piece will go together and to help you center the face. Once you have the placement picked out, sew the eyes between rows 4 and 5. For the cones in the pics I used small round beads, but safety eyes work just as well and they are less of a hassle. Embroider a mouth between rows 5 and 6 in any expression you desire. Is your cone happy, sad, angry, etc? Since you already have a piece of thread going now is the time to add eyebrows too!

Using the long tail you left on your cone piece, whip-stitch the 2 pieces together through the back (inside) loops only. Stuff when you get a little over halfway through. Finish your whip-stitches and fasten off. Weave in that final end and you’ve got a new ice cream cone friend.

Congratulations! You just crocheted an Amigurumi Ice Cream Cone!
